1-Year Doctor Visit
 |
|
This morning I had my yearly checkup with the Bariatric center. They took my picture when I arrived and brought out my “before and after” shot before I left. I was shocked by my reaction – I sat there and cried. It was really the first side by side comparison photo I’ve seen and I didn’t even recognize the person in the before shot. She looked so sad and lost to me.
On a positive note, all along I’ve been telling them I always get 90-120g protein a day and they have always said it wasn’t necessary — only 50-60g was needed. Well today, the doctor had just returned from a Bariatric convention in Seattle and they were told to recommend at least 30g per meal — so 90g a day is golden! I am glad I followed my own research and have been doing this much the entire year — and very thankful she told me about this and was proud of me too
The other thing they discussed was Omega-3 — which they were told was a good thing to recommend and I’ve been taking those for some time as well. (Even when they told me it wasn’t needed!) I order all of my vitamins from CelebrateVitamins.com – but I get my Omega 3 chewable strawberry, and my chewable probiotics from Bariatric Advantage.
The moral of this story: do your own research!! Listen to your doctors but make your own informed decisions – just don’t skip your vitamins and protein!! |
My life is pretty much normal now and I’m concentrating on all of my new adventures and enjoying life.
I am training for the Susan G Komen 3-Day — which would never have been possible before surgery!!! You can follow my journey at http://pinkmary60.blogspot.com
I will still be updating here when I have news — but luckily, that is few and far between these days
It’s a good thing!
